MAPLEWOOD, NJ – (The Village Green) – Aug 09, 2019 – With the heat waves of July underway, this may seem an odd time to talk about home heating. But summer is as good a season as any to evaluate your situation and plan ahead for the cold winter months to come.
Norm Woolley Jr., who runs Maplewood’s oldest, longest continually operating business — Woolley Home Solutions — recently answered some of Village Green’s questions about oil heat and oil tanks.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ – (TAPinto Berkeley Heights) – May 14, 2019 – More than a century ago, Burnett Avenue was a much quieter place than it is now.
There was more open space. Where Woolley Home Solutions is located, there were coal silos and railroad tracks for the Rahway Line.
Then came 1924. That’s the year the Woolley family came to town from New York and built Woolley’s Home Service, a plumbing, cooling, heating and biofuel business. The land was a coal yard that went bankrupt with a farmhouse that was once located on the property.
Maplewood, NJ – Woolley Home Solutions is proud to announce that it has earned the home service industry’s coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award (SSA). This award honors service professionals who have maintained exceptional service ratings and reviews on Angie’s List in 2018.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ (October 30, 2018) – Woolley Fuel celebrates its 10th year as a distribution location providing high-quality biodiesel to consumers across New Jersey.
Woolley Fuel was started in 1924 by two brothers Herbert and Norman W. Woolley Sr. Their desire was to start a coal company similar to their father’s and found potential in Maplewood, New Jersey. The brothers built an energy company that is now approaching its 95th year and is still evolving.
“It is hard to believe that 10 years have passed since the opening of the first public biodiesel fueling station in New Jersey. Kudos, thanks, and credit go to Norm and his colleagues for their forward thinking and entrepreneurial spirit in being the first to bring this environmentally friendly fuel to the public,” said Brian Palmer, New Jersey Soybean Board Chairman. “It is our hope that the usage of this important alternative fuel increases, that the environment will reap the benefits and that Woolley Fuel will continue its success in the marketplace as they enter their 95th year.”
Norman Woolley, Jr. created a whole new market when he made his company the first in the state to offer biodiesel to the public. Woolley Fuel started with just B5 blends, and now due to demand, they are selling B30 to customers.
“It’s exciting to see the distribution of biodiesel popping up throughout the nation, more exciting to see it on one’s own home turf,” shared Paul Nazzaro, Nazzaro Group, LLC. “Having access to high-quality biodiesel is of paramount importance and organizations like Woolley Fuel spearheading fuel deployment is key to our industries success.”
Woolley Fuel prides itself in offering biodiesel that is a clean burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources. Biofuel from Woolley is accessible throughout much of New Jersey including Essex, Morris, Somerset, Hunterdon, and Union Counties.
Mayor Victor DeLuca, Township of Maplewood, NJ stated, “Biodiesel has been working for us. Each day hundreds of commuters ride to and from our train station on jitneys that are fueled by biodiesel. Using biodiesel helps us reduce our carbon footprint.”
Along with biodiesel, Woolley is also a major player in the Bioheat® sector providing heating oil to northeastern New Jersey residents. Heating oil has been a part of the Woolley family since close to the beginning. For 90 years, Woolley has delivered top-notch oil and plans to continue this business model for many more years to come.
“In the past decade, the utilization of Bioheat® and biodiesel have become commonplace. The recognition of the renewable aspect of the fuel, when combined with the seamless operation of vehicles and equipment running on it, make using it a no-brainer,” said Eric DeGesero, Executive Vice President of Fuel Merchants Association of New Jersey. “Woolley Fuel has been a company at the cutting edge of our industry for over 90 years. The fact they were an early adopter of Bioheat® and biodiesel is no surprise as they embark on the next 95 years of industry leadership.”
For 10 years Woolley Fuel has made a commitment to quality and service. As leaders in the biodiesel industry, Woolley looks forward to the next decade of milestones and success.
Made from an increasingly diverse mix of resources such as recycled cooking oil, soybean oil, and animal fats, biodiesel is a renewable, clean-burning diesel replacement that can be used in existing diesel engines without modification. It is the nation’s first domestically produced, commercially available advanced biofuel.
